LG Display has unveiled a groundbreaking stretchable screen prototype that can expand its size by up to 50%. This 12-inch display can stretch to 18 inches while maintaining a high resolution of 100 pixels per inch (ppi) and full RGB color support.
The enhanced elasticity is achieved through a new wiring design and a silicon substrate similar to that used in contact lenses, allowing the screen to twist, bend, and stretch without compromising durability. Remarkably, it remains functional even after being stretched over 10,000 times.
Potential applications for this technology include wearable devices integrated into clothing and adaptable infotainment systems in vehicles, offering unprecedented flexibility in screen design.
